Technology Module Four: Differentiation
Background and Context
Background: This module is designed as a supplement to the Avancemos Series Unidad 2 Lección 1: SOMOS ESTUDIANTES. This module is part of a fifteen day unit for Spanish I students. In the unit, students will learn to talk about schedules, how often they do different activities, and the time they do those activities. Students will also be discussing similarities and differences in relation to schedules, dress, and meeting places from one culture to another. Throughout the unit students will build their vocabulary for the culminating product. The product will present a student's typical day. Differentiation will be addressed as each student will be required to meet the most basic requirements, but will be given the opportunity to go above and beyond. Students will be able to choose which presentation tool to use and will have to consider their technological abilities as well as which product will represent them as a person as each presents his or her typical day. Students will be able to present their typical day as individuals who have varying cultures and interests. I will give students three different options for presenting their typical day. The options can be seen above: a comic, google drawings or a storybook. After creating a product, students will share their typical day with classmates, compare and contrast their schedules within their group, within class, and finally compare and contrast their schedules with a typical schedule of a student from a Spanish speaking country.
